Dr. Toni Kwan grew up in the Chicago area and became fascinated with technology and medicine in her undergraduate years. She discovered she had an interest in veterinary surgery on accident while volunteering at the Anti-Cruelty Society after college. After Dr. Kwan completed her residency, she decided it was time for her to return home to the midwest.

Dr. Kwan particularly enjoys juvenile growth and development from an orthopedic standpoint, but also enjoys minimally invasive surgery and new technology. More recently, she’s really appreciated her role as a patient educator for families by helping owners understand their options and what it means for their pet’s quality of life.

Dogs, Kids, Gorillas... Oh my!

I love all types of food and styles of cooking. I have two golden retrievers; one is a participant in the golden retriever lifetime study and the other is a rescue. I spend most of my time running after my two kids, but love to volunteer surgery time at the zoo. My favorite zoo patients are the pangolins and the snow leopards, but working on a western lowland gorilla and a black rhino were also memorable.
